Ross Carnes loves music. He also loves working with kids to help them develop and grow their creativity. It was only a matter of time before these two passions merged and led to the formation of We Love Music.

Ross has an extensive and eclectic array of musical experience. His first guitar teacher helped him fuel his own lifelong passion for the instrument, memories which inspire Ross today. He continued to play the guitar throughout his college years at Elon University, where he received a minor in Music (and a B.A. in Philosophy). There he also studied jazz improvisation with world renowned jazz soloist Jon Metzget, broadening his musical horizons beyond just rock-n-roll.

Ross is also a participating member of Austin’s local music scene, having performed and recorded with numerous local bands. His performance experience also includes five years of working as an accompanying percussionist for the UT dance department, as well as participating in the Austin Samba School– Austin’s own 40-member brazilian drum line.

More recently, Ross spent the years of 2005-2011 working as the Director of Music Department at the Sri Atmananda Memorial School.

Ross currently resides in North Austin with his wife, Tolly, daughter Nico, and their feline assistant, Claudia. When he is not teaching or practicing music, Ross likes to develop his hobby of woodworking as well as his practice of Bikram Yoga.
